Cath Hill
Manchester Arena Attack - 22.05.2017
Cath Hill was attending the Ariana Grande Concert at Manchester Arena with her 10 Year Old son on May 22nd when an Islamist extremist detonated an explosive in the foyer of the building. When she realised what had happened, she grabbed her son and ran, managing to leave the arena through a side exit and avoiding a potential stampede in the crowds.
A social worker and PhD Student, Cath was acutely aware of the need for peer-to-peer support between those affected and the strength that could be found in simply being in common company with others affected. She founded the Manchester Survivors’ Choir soon after the attack to give others affected by the attack the opportunity to meet with one another in a safe and secure environment, and since then they have gone on to perform at several venues and with numerous stars, including at the Congress of Victims of Terrorism in Nice, France, in November 2019.
