Workshops and Training
In addition to our university engagement events, we offer a range of tailored workshop sessions that can be delivered to all levels of education, from students to teaching staff, in addition to private businesses, institutions, and individuals. Sessions can be offered in-person or online, and all are tailor-made to suit the needs of each individual request.
Sessions for students
-
All of our sessions are tailored to the specific needs of your institution, whether those changes be as a result of the age, demographic, or unique learning needs of your students.
-
We believe that the only way to properly educate young people on the risks from radicalisation is to do so in a way that engages and involves them in discussions and activities.
-
Our sessions focus not just on delivering knowledge and information to students on the role of Prevent and how they can spot the warning signs of radicalisation, we also cover the tertiary issues affecting young people that may feed into their vulnerability to extremism; grooming, grievances, motivation, and mental health, for example.
-
All our trainers have a great deal of experience in working with young people on the issues of countering extremism, but what makes our sessions particularly unique is the inclusion of lived experience. Sessions are delivered by a survivor of terrorism, and often include the voices of other young people who have fallen victim to radicalisation.
Sessions for teachers
-
All of our sessions are tailored to the specific needs of your institution, and whilst we traditionally focus on the Prevent strategy we can also incorporate teaching on physical protection, digital skills, and more.
-
Our sessions do not start and end at the point of delivery. If you need advice outside of the delivery period, we’re here to provide. Where we are faced with an issue we don’t have the expertise to handle, we’ll be honest and will facilitate introductions to a suitable partner.
-
All of our sessions are designed to be as safe and challenging as possible, allowing teachers and trainers a space to express any concerns they may have openly and without fear of embarrassment or repurcussions.
-
Our ‘train the trainer’-style sessions incorporate a range of activities to help teachers take their learning outside of our sessions and into the classroom. This is facilitated through sessions such as those specifically designed to help teachers ‘spot the signs’ and identify motifs, emblems, and phrases that may indicate signs of radicalisation.
