Alpha Cheng

2015 Parramatta shooting - 02.10.2015

As accountant Curtis Cheng walked outside his office at the New South Wales Police Headquarters in Sydney, he was shot and killed by a 15 Year old carrying a revolver. Acting out of Islamist motive, the shooter then opened fire on Constables inside the Police Force Building before being killed in turn when they responded to the shooting. Curtis was 58 Years old, and an unarmed civilian employee of the Police; he is survived by his wife and children.

His son Alpha Cheng, has devoted himself towards fighting hate and building tolerance within communities. He was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2019 to study counterterrorism policy in several countries, and has since transitioned from a teaching career to working in the Department of the Australian Prime Minister and Cabinet. Alpha is committed towards raising awareness of cohesion and understanding.
