The Bataclan, November 2015 Paris Attacks - 13.11.2015
During the 2015 November Attacks in Paris, three heavily armed gunmen entered the Bataclan Concert Hall and opened fire on concert-goers attending a performance by the American band “Eagles of Death Metal”. Lola Salines, an editor, was one of 1,500 people attending the concert - she was one of 90 people who lost their lives during the attack, which also left hundreds injured, with victims from around the world. The attackers took hostages and were all killed during the subsequent siege with Police, leaving countless numbers of concert-goers with the psychological trauma of their involvement.
Lola’s father, Georges, has since devoted his life to speaking in schools to help young people to better understand and recognise the risks from radicalisation, and how to spot the warning signs. Years after the attack, Georges met with the father of one of the perpetrators and together, they co-authored a book aimed at reconciliation and countering Islamist extremism.
