Berlin Christmas Markets Attack - 19.12.2016
When an Islamist attacker stole a truck and drove into pedestrians at the Christmas Markets in Berlin, twelve people were killed and over fourty eight injured. The terrorist was later killed during a shootout with Police in Milan, Italy. Nearly five years after the attack, a first aider who received critical injuries during the incident lost his life as a result of the injuries he sustained, becoming the thirteenth victim of the attack.
Astrid Passin, who lost her father in the attack, has since set out to create one of Germany’s first independent victims of terrorism associations in order to campaign for improvements in state support provided to German victims of terrorism.
