Who We Are

All stories recorded on this platform are the real life testimonies of people affected by terrorism, around the world. Participants are, by very nature of these indiscriminate attacks, diverse in age, cultural, ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds, as well as their involvement (first responders, survivors, and bereaved) and the motivations behind the attacks they were involved in.

Travis D. Frain

Director

Since sustaining injuries in the Westminster Bridge terror attack on 22nd March 2017, Travis has spent the years following campaigning for the rights of victims of terrorism to improved support from the state, and has committed to doing what he can to play a small part in preventing future attacks. He co-founded the pressure group Survivors Against Terror in 2018, was awarded a Young Leaders in National Security Fellowship by the Counter Extremism Group, and is currently studying for a PhD at Edge Hill University. He currently serves as the National Chair of the Counter Terrorism Youth Advisory Group, and is a member of the advisory board of the National Emergencies Trust and several other charities.

Who we work with.

In order to help facilitate the aims of the project, we work with a range of organisations and individuals to help engage as many people as possible. This platform is made possible in particular due to the support of the organisations below.

Counter Terrorism Policing

Counter Terrorism Policing is a collaboration of UK police forces working with the UK intelligence community to help protect the public and national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity. They operate nationwide across the four strands of the UK CONTEST strategy: Prevent, Pursue, Protect, and Prepare.

We have teamed up with the Police’s National Youth Counterterrorism Advisory Group to incorporate our materials into ongoing extremism prevention efforts, and consult their guidance and expertise around how best to communicate these difficult topics.

Strength to Strength

Strength to Strength is a nonprofit supporting victims of terrorism around the world with long-term psychological needs through regular meetings, provision of information and advice, and raising awareness. They have created a global network of hundreds around the world, and we have partnered with them in order to provide survivors with the opportunity to share their story in a safe and understanding manner, allowing these to then be used in prevention of future radicalisation and to combat terrorism.

National Emergencies Trust

The National Emergencies Trust is a charity that seeks to improve the civil society response to national emergencies, following a year where the UK suffered several terror attacks and the Grenfell Fire (2017). NET works to raise and distribute fundraising in the aftermath of disasters and emergencies, ensuring these funds reach those directly affected and most in need to support their recovery.

We are assisting NET to raise awareness of the support needs of victims of terrorism that often emerge in the months and years following an attack.

Edge Hill University

Edge Hill University is a campus based institution in Ormskirk, Lancashire, in the United Kingdom. The University holds a distinct interest within terrorism, as a class of students where involved in the Westminster Bridge terror attack in March 2017 whilst on a trip organised by the university. Their experience in dealing with the very real human effects of terrorism, has led them to support and partner with the project to provide funding where required, and assistance with other aspects of project development over the next few years.
